Tracy Morgan Faces Discrimination?

I was watching E! News and heard a story about 30 Rock star Tracy Morgan writing a memoir. Normally I wouldn't think to relate writing a book to a TV minorities class, but one thing that caught my attention was that in the book, Morgan claims that some of his former fellow Saturday Night Live cast members were not very friendly to him during his days on the show. He calls out Chris Kattan and Cheri Oteri specifically, and mentions that they always looked at him differently than some of the others on the show at that they treated him as thought he was beneath them in some way. I mean, obviously, their opinions of him could have stemmed from anything... maybe they didn't like his personality, or maybe they just aren't friendly people by nature, but I couldn't help but wonder whether race had anything to do with the sense of discrimination that he felt from two of his peers. I don't know if I would have even considered the possibilty that race might have been a factor, had I not signed up for this class, but after I saw the story, I was kind of curious as to what Morgan was referring to with his comments. Any thoughts?

  2. yeah who knows there can be multiple reasons why he might of felt they didn't like him. he could also be saying some controversal things to get some publicity...who knows these days

  3. I don't necessarily think one way or the other. But technically I think it could easily be a racial issue, on the other hand maybe it was more of a seniority thing. I think this is something we will never know because neither Chris Kattan nor Cheri Oteri is going to admit to being a racist...

  4. I think that people become like family on shows like this. They spend so much time together and get so close. It could just be that he wasnt part of that group and he hadnt made as much of a connection with those cast members. On the other hand it could have been race related, like alex said we probably wont ever know.

  5. It's gonna be hard for him to prove. He writes his book, accuses them of being racist. They respond by saying they loved being around Tracy and consider him a great friend and colleague. I don't know what the end game is: short of him having a tape of them using racial slurs it's just a he said/he said/she said. What's the point?

  6. Maybe they just didn't like looking at him because he's so goofy looking. They thought it would be rude to laugh, so they averted their eyes. Haha. I think Tracey Morgan is really funny. Race just isn't easy to talk about. Unfortunatly, the "it's because I'm black" defense doesn't go very far with me. I know that some people are just dumbasses and being black has nothing to do with it. We will never know, because no one is actually going to publicly admit to being racist... And they could sue Tracey for lible if he claims they are racist.
